A 30-Year-Old Sentenced to Prison for Attempting to Destroy Evidence After Using Drugs

A 30-year-old man, who was caught on drug use charges, was sentenced to prison after attempting to destroy evidence during the investigation.

On the 12th, the Chuncheon District Court's Wonju branch, under Judge Kim Hyun-jun, sentenced the 30-year-old defendant, referred to as A, to 1 year and 6 months in prison and ordered the confiscation of 100,000 KRW for violations of the Act on the Control of Narcotics and breaking and entering.

According to the indictment submitted by the prosecution, A is accused of using methamphetamine around 10:30 AM on September 11, 2024, in Wonju, Gangwon Province. Notably, A had already been sentenced to 1 year in prison, with a 2-year stay of execution, for drug trafficking and usage in January 2023, which negatively impacted his case in court due to committing a repeat offense.

A's criminal activities did not stop there. During the urine test process at the investigation agency, he attempted to dilute his urine sample by secretly mixing water into the paper cup containing his urine in order to obstruct drug detection.
