The video depicts white maggots crawling along the edges of the grill where meat is being cooked, shocking viewers.

This video was initially posted on TikTok by a woman in the Philippines back in May.

The woman shared a 7-second clip along with a simple message in English saying "Be careful" and a few hashtags such as 'samgyeopsal,' but provided no further explanation.

As a result, it was only possible to infer that the location was a Korean restaurant, and it was not clear exactly which country the restaurant was situated in.

Since being posted, the video has garnered over 26.3 million views, receiving explosive interest two months later.

With more than 12,000 comments written in various languages such as Filipino, Indonesian, Thai, Burmese, English, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic, it indicates that the video has attracted significant attention globally, beyond the Philippines.

Upon hearing the news, domestic internet users expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating that "If a restaurant in our country operated like that, it would be shut down nationwide," and "In a country where there’s a huge fuss over too much fat in samgyeopsal, would they just let this slide if it were Korean?"

Some voiced concerns, saying, "This misunderstanding arose because no explanation was provided. I wish there was more clarification to avoid the spread of fake news."

Domestic internet users began efforts to locate the restaurant featured in the video.

One internet user sent a direct message (DM) to the TikTok poster and received a response confirming that "The restaurant in question is a samgyeopsal specialty store in the Philippines," and emphasized "The video was definitely filmed in the Philippines, not Korea."

Foreign media outlets, including those in Thailand, also reported the incident, specifying that "The restaurant in the video is a Korean-style barbecue restaurant located in the Philippines."

Domestic internet users also identified the restaurant in question by referencing videos on YouTube and other sources.

The restaurant is confirmed to be a samgyeopsal specialty store in the Philippines. By reviewing promotional videos for the restaurant on YouTube, one can verify that the grill shape, type of sauce, and arrangement are identical to those seen in the maggot video.
