British band 'Oasis' member Liam Gallagher (52) has been embroiled in allegations of racism. On the 1st, Liam posted the word 'Chingchong' on his social media. 'Chingchong' is a term that carries derogatory connotations towards people of Chinese descent, and more broadly, East Asians.
Many netizens criticized his remarks. When one user pointed out, "You shouldn't use such words (Chingchong)," Liam replied, "Why?" Another netizen reminded him that his band Oasis is about to go on a world tour, warning, "Liam, today (the concert tickets) will be canceled."
He also seemed to disregard fans who were trying to prevent the controversy from escalating. When one person told him that his phrase was "racist," Liam retorted, "Watch your manners." As criticisms about the 'Chingchong' post flooded in, he eventually deleted the original post. However, the debate continues, with him regularly exchanging posts with fans.
This is not the first time Liam has faced backlash. During his heyday, he was known for various misconducts, making headlines for incidents such as aircraft disruptions and assaults on fans.
Meanwhile, Oasis is set to perform in South Korea at Goyang Stadium on October 21 at 8 PM.
