Lee Seung-woo is currently appearing in the Disney+ series ‘Kangmaegang,’ which was first released on the 11th of last month. He plays Jang Tansik, the rookie detective of the Songwon-seo Violent Crimes Unit 2. He is known for his keen sense of smell.
In the early parts of the drama, he is transforming from a troublemaker into a true detective. Particularly, in episodes 9 and 10, his all-round capabilities were highlighted. He contributed to solving the murder case of a sock merchant. This was a stark contrast to the clumsy charm he had previously shown, as his abilities surfaced during the investigation process. His previously mysterious personal history was also revealed.
Jang Tansik struggled to catch the perpetrator when an acquaintance became the victim of the murder case. He utilized his experience in the comprehensive operations room to analyze nearby CCTV and black box footage. His contact with a suspect led him to uncover crucial evidence, employing his keen sense of smell. His detection ability, superior to that of a sniffer dog, enabled him to find evidence, leading to the successful apprehension of the criminal.
His personal story also enhanced the drama's immersion. Speculations arose over his identity as the grandson of Hong Tan-bong, the founder of Tansikdang, due to his luxury watch and borrowed high-end vehicle from an acquaintance.
Lee Seung-woo's acting prowess shined through. He focused on details like flaring his nostrils or adding rhythm to his gestures, delivering an intense performance that brought the character to life.
Lee Seung-woo explained, "I attended an action school before the shoot. It was like learning to walk," and added, "I wanted to show a new side of Tansik, so I prepared diligently."
