Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi showcased his passion for acting, even going as far as shaving his head. On the 6th, the team behind the movie 'Big Family' (directed by Yang Woo-seok) released on-set stills. The images show Lee Seung-gi (as Ham Mun-seok) undergoing a dramatic transformation for the role.
Lee Seung-gi perfectly transformed into the head monk 'Ham Mun-seok'. His decision to become a monk is depicted, and he shaved his head for the role. His intense gaze set the mood. He flawlessly became the head monk 'Ham Mun-seok'.
The production company noted, "‘Big Family’ has garnered support through pre-release screenings. At the center of this word-of-mouth is Lee Seung-gi, who for the first time since his debut, showcased his brave act of shaving his head."
Lee Seung-gi commented, "Thanks to a good script, and the direction of Kim Yoon-seok and Director Yang, shaving my head wasn't even a concern. After filming, I struggled a bit because my hair didn’t grow back as quickly as I thought."
'Big Family' is a family comedy genre film. It tells the story of the owner of a famous dumpling restaurant, "Pyeong Man-ok" (played by Kim Yoon-seok), whose family line ends because his son Ham Mun-seok (played by Lee Seung-gi) becomes a monk.
Lee Seung-gi played 'Ham Mun-seok'. He is the head monk and son of Ham Moo-ok. Once a promising medical student, he suddenly takes the path of a monk after his mother's death.
A representative mentioned, "Through this project, Lee Seung-gi successfully transformed both visually and internally. He started each day by shaving his head during the entire shoot."
Additionally, they shared, "Ham Mun-seok was brought to life by Lee Seung-gi’s courage. Not only will he deliver laughter, but he will also move audiences as he maturely overcomes challenges as the head monk."
Meanwhile, 'Big Family' will be released in theaters on the 11th.
