Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu (65) has been subjected to police investigation on charges of drug driving. The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul summoned Lee Kyung-kyu on the 24th as a suspect for violating the Road Traffic Act. The investigation lasted approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, from 9 PM to 10:45 PM.

The police questioned him about the circumstances of drug use and the situation during driving. Lee is accused of driving under the influence of drugs around 2 PM on the 8th in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam District. He was reported for suspected theft while driving someone else's car. A preliminary drug test conducted by the police returned a positive result, which was also confirmed by the National Forensic Service.

After the investigation, Lee Kyung-kyu expressed to reporters, "I did not recognize that I should not drive after taking medication for panic disorder. I will be more careful in the future." Regarding the fact that he drove another person's vehicle, he stated, "I was holding my car key, and the key to the vehicle I drove was inside, which started the engine," and added, "I apologize to my fans for disappointing them."

The attorney present stated, "Lee Kyung-kyu has been suffering from panic disorder for the past 10 years. He took prescribed medication the day before the incident but felt unwell and drove to the hospital himself," emphasizing that it was "carelessness without any excuses."

Article 45 of the Road Traffic Act prohibits driving in a state likely to impair normal driving abilities due to the influence of drugs. The police plan to analyze Lee Kyung-kyu's statements before deciding on the course of action.
