Lee Jun-seok: “They said 40 was too young, but is the alternative 74-year-old Kim Moon-soo?”

Lee Jun-suk, "It is possible to contain Lee Jae-myung with the support of the younger generation"

Reform Party presidential candidate Lee Jun-suk emphasized the need for a change in the election landscape based on the support from the younger generation.

On the 16th, while meeting with reporters at Dankook University's Cheonan campus in Chungcheongnam-do, the candidate asserted, "If the younger generation directs their votes towards Lee Jun-suk, who has the potential to expand support, the atmosphere of this election will come alive, and most importantly, it will be possible to check candidate Lee Jae-myung."

The candidate targeted Kim Moon-soo of the People Power Party, stating, "How much more opportunity do you plan to give to Kim Moon-soo, who is unable to expand support beyond the approval ratings of the People Power Party? I believe time is running out," highlighting the necessity for generational change.

Furthermore, he questioned the traditional conservative base, saying, "When will the age group that has determined that they cannot rely on Kim Moon-soo to check candidate Lee Jae-myung make a rational judgment?" He added, "I wonder how long we will block Korea’s future with the reasoning that 'you’re only 40 years old, so you can’t'?"

He continued, "Is the alternative to 40-year-old Lee Jun-suk, who is deemed too young, the 74-year-old Kim Moon-soo? I hope we can make a change that allows youth to win."

Statement on Marine Corps death incident and military-related issues

Lee Jun-suk addressed his participation in a press conference ahead of the appellate trial of former Marine Corps Investigator Park Jeong-hoon, who was acquitted at the first trial regarding the 'Marine Corps death incident.'

He explained, "Since I was expelled from the People Power Party, I have always demanded a clear and active investigation and repeatedly voiced the need to cease external pressure on Colonel Park Jeong-hoon."

Specifically, he stated, "The downfall of the military's commander-in-chief, Yoon Seok-youl, is about stripping the honor of soldiers who have devoted themselves to the country, using the bizarre charge of insubordination," calling on the court to swiftly restore Colonel Park's honor.

That day, the candidate focused on campaigning in the Chungcheong region. After holding a 'Let’s Eat Academic Food' event with Dankook University students, he conducted a press briefing at the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office regarding regional issues and continued his campaign at Cheonan Central Market.

Meanwhile, regarding the possibility of meeting with Kim Yong-tae, the chairperson of the People Power Party's emergency committee, the candidate said, "We used to contact each other to chat once a week," adding, "While Kim mentioned that he contacted me, there is no record of contact on my phone," indicating a subtle difference in the communication situation between the two sides.
