Ahn Cheol-soo: "The person who should be reinstated is Lee Jun-seok"… Lee Jun-seok responds immediately
At the final debate for the People Power Party leadership candidates, candidate Ahn Cheol-soo identified Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the Reform Party, as the 'person who should be reinstated,' prompting a notable response from him.
On the 19th, Lee shared a photo of Ahn on his Facebook page, along with the question, 'If you could reinstate one person in the People Power Party,' expressing, "DASH Ahn Cheol-soo!"

He noted, "After the recent emergency situation, the sense of crisis and message from Senator Ahn are straightforward," and emphasized, "If you ask what is needed for politics to be upright, I would answer courage." He further evaluated, "What good is thinking of independence if you do not act like Senator Ahn? It becomes simply empty words."
"I remember holding a banner opposing the pardons of Cho Kuk and Yoon Mi-hyang"
Lee positively mentioned Ahn's campaign attitude as well.
He stated, "Having gone through several important elections, wouldn't there be temptations for populist remarks?" Nevertheless, he reflected, "A few days ago, I directly took a photo of him holding a banner opposing the pardons for Cho Kuk and Yoon Mi-hyang. I thought someone needed to record it from an angle that photojournalists might find difficult.”
Debate candidates' choices varied… Only Ahn chose 'Lee Jun-seok'

Earlier that afternoon, at the 3rd debate for the People Power Party leadership candidates for the August 22 convention, the candidates Kim Moon-soo, Ahn Cheol-soo, Jang Dong-hyuk, and Jo Kyung-tae were asked, "If you could reinstate one person in the People Power Party." The examples given were former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo and Leader Lee Jun-seok.
All three candidates chose former Mayor Hong, but Ahn was the only one who selected Lee. Ahn stated, "Lee is a symbol of the 2030 generation," adding, "As someone from a science and engineering background, he possesses profound knowledge that can contribute to economic development."
In contrast, candidate Kim Moon-soo emphasized, "Former Mayor Hong is a comrade of the People Power Party," mentioning, "He has shared joys and sorrows with us and participated in the primaries, but unfortunately could not join. I want to have him back." Candidate Jang Dong-hyuk evaluated, "Former Mayor Hong is someone who has protected the party even during difficult times," while candidate Jo Kyung-tae suggested, "Since former Mayor Hong and Lee are close, we should open a path for them to return together."
