Actor Lee Bo-young becomes a physician who assists in dying.
On the 24th, the production team of MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "Mary Kills People" (written by Lee Soo-ah, directed by Park Jun-woo) revealed the script reading scene. Lee Bo-young, Lee Min-ki, Kang Ki-young, and Baek Hyun-jin participated.
"Mary Kills People" is a suspense drama that deals with the heavy theme of assisted dying. It tells the story of a doctor aiming to end the suffering of terminally ill patients and the detective tracking them down.
The atmosphere of the day was a "tasteful acting house." Lee Bo-young portrayed emergency medicine doctor Woo So-jung. She delicately expressed the inner turmoil and contradiction of helping patients with strong beliefs.
Lee Min-ki played the role of terminal cancer patient Jo Hyun-woo, depicting a weary life with a calm and composed tone. He captured the character's agony as he grappled with the dilemma of life and death.
Kang Ki-young took on the role of Choi Dae-hyun, a former plastic surgeon. After losing his medical license, he assists in assisted dying alongside So-jung. He served as the mood maker, providing humor amidst the taut tension.
Additionally, Baek Hyun-jin took on the role of businessman Koo Kwang-cheol, Kwon Hae-yo played free clinic director Yang Sin-bu, Kim Tae-woo portrayed Police Chief Ahn Tae-seong, and Seo Young-hee played lawyer Ryu Yi-soo, contributing to the ensemble.
A representative noted, "All the actors filled the set with solid performances," and added, "Please anticipate 'Mary Kills People,' which will confront deep perspectives on death and life."
Meanwhile, "Mary Kills People" is the follow-up to "Labor Attorney Noh Moo-jin." It is set to premiere on August 1st at 10 PM.
