Landslide Occurs in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, Causing Casualties

A landslide that occurred in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, on the afternoon of the 19th has resulted in casualties.

The National Fire Agency officially announced that three people have died due to this landslide.

According to the National Fire Agency, in addition to the deceased, two individuals have suffered cardiac arrest, and three are currently missing.

The missing individuals are presumed to be buried under debris caused by the landslide. A total of 17 people have been rescued at the scene.

Large-scale rescue operations underway following the declaration of the National Fire Mobilization Order

To respond swiftly to this landslide, the National Fire Agency issued a 'National Fire Mobilization Order' starting at 1 PM on the 19th. The National Fire Mobilization Order is an emergency system that focuses the nation’s firefighting resources in large-scale disaster situations.

Following the mobilization order, a total of 61 personnel and 25 pieces of equipment have been deployed to the scene from the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters, as well as fire departments in Chungbuk, Chungnam, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk.

Rescue teams are making all efforts to search for the buried missing persons and prevent further casualties.

The landslide is presumed to be primarily caused by ground weakening due to heavy rainfall, and the firefighting authorities are also implementing safety measures to prevent secondary damage.
