Ri Hyun-sang, played by Koo, was a promising pianist who studied in Russia. However, he accepted reality and fulfilled his duties as an officer. He relentlessly chases after Gyu-nam (played by Lee Je-hoon), who is attempting to escape to freedom. He uses every means and method to pursue him, putting all his strength into the chase until the final moment.
A key point of interest is the hidden backstory: Hyun-sang and Gyu-nam have a connection from their childhood. The relationship with Sun-woo Min (played by Song Kang) also adds to the intrigue.
A multifaceted character is depicted. Koo Kyo-hwan drives the narrative with restrained yet explosive energy, expressing the conflicted emotions of Hyun-sang with just his facial expressions.
