Actors Ko Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon will portray a complex mother-son relationship filled with love and hate.
SBS-TV's new drama "Mantidae" (written by Lee Young-jong and directed by Byun Young-joo) announced its casting lineup on the 23rd. It was revealed that Ko Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon have been confirmed to appear.
"Mantidae" is a crime thriller. It is based on a French drama of the same name. The story revolves around a mother who committed serial murders 20 years ago and her son, a police officer, who cooperate in an investigation.
Ko Hyun-jung will play Jeong I-shin, a woman with a murder conviction. I-shin is known as "Mantidae," who brutally killed five men. She is expected to heighten the tension with her intense acting.
Jang Dong-yoon will portray Cha Soo-yeol, I-shin's son and a current police officer. He dives into the case of a serial killer mimicking "Mantidae." He joins forces with the mother he has hated his entire life.
A powerful production team has come together. Director Byun Young-joo, known for the film "Helpless," will helm the project. The script is by writer Lee Young-jong, promising another masterpiece following "Spring of Seoul."
Meanwhile, "Mantidae" is set to air next year.
