Actors Kim Tae-ri, Shin Ye-eun, Ra Mi-ran, Jung Eun-chae, and Kim Yoon-hye have transformed into members of a female national theatre troupe. tvN’s new weekend drama ‘Jung Nyeoni’ (written by Choi Hyo-bi, directed by Jung Ji-in) released its first poster on the 21st. The poster features the main stage, the National Theatre, and the “Maeran Female National Theatre Troupe” members.

‘Jung Nyeoni’ is set in the 1950s, during the aftermath of the Korean War. It portrays the competition, camaraderie, and splendid growth of ‘Jung Nyeoni,’ a natural-born talent aspiring to become the top national theatre actress.

Kim Tae-ri plays the genius vocalist ‘Yoon Jung-nyeon,’ who comes to Seoul alone from Mokpo to become a theatre actress. In the poster, her eyes sparkle with innate talent.

Shin Ye-eun portrays ‘Heo Young-seo,’ a competent individual adept at singing, dancing, and acting, backed by an affluent family background. She is a recognized elite, showing a rival relationship with Jung-nyeon through her sharp gaze.

Ra Mi-ran takes on the role of ‘Kang So-bok,’ the leader of the Maeran Theatre Troupe. So-bok adds weight with her cold and disciplined charisma. Jung Eun-chae embodies the “prince” of the Maeran Theatre Troupe, ‘Moon Ok-kyung,’ while Kim Yoon-hye transforms into the “princess” ‘Seo Hye-rang.’

Another poster showcases a bustling 1950s street filled with romance and a human touch. Kim Tae-ri is seen looking at the theatre troupe’s sign with admiration. She is also depicted as the main character on stage.

‘Jung Nyeoni’ is based on a webtoon of the same name. Kim Tae-ri is well-known as the muse of the original work and is expected to bring Jung-nyeon’s character to life vividly. The direction is by Jung Ji-in, who helmed MBC-TV’s ‘The Red Sleeve.’

The production team stated, “We have done our best to prepare to convey the charm of the women’s national theatre that flourished in the 1950s. Featuring passionate performances by the actors, sensuous direction, and a captivating story, we aim to present a well-rounded drama.” ‘Jung Nyeoni’ is set to premiere on October 12th at 9:20 PM.
