The Netflix series 'Hellbound' (directed by Yeon Sang-ho) returns with a deeper storyline. Season 2 of 'Hellbound' is set to be released on the 25th of next month. The launch trailer was unveiled on the 20th, showing the resurrection of 'Jung Jin-soo' (played by Kim Sung-cheol), who was condemned to hell in Season 1.
Jung Jin-soo is the first chairman of the New Truth Society. He had confused people by preaching that the chaos sweeping the world was a message from God. It turns out he was notified of his journey to hell 20 years ago and received a demonstration in secret. He awakens after the demonstration, but the hell emissaries rush at him again. Jung Jin-soo cries out in the flames, and he gradually takes form again, resurrecting.
In a world where notices and demonstrations of journeys to hell had become rampant, resurrected individuals suddenly appeared. This hinted at a new development, forecasting a deepened worldview and a variety of characters.
Actor Yoo Ah-in portrayed Jung Jin-soo in the previous installment but stepped down. Kim Sung-cheol took over the role. Additionally, Yang Dong-geun, Lim Seong-jae, Jo Dong-in, and Moon Geun-young joined the cast as new faces.
Director Yeon Sang-ho stated, "I am returning three years after Season 1. As a person who loves the world of 'Hellbound,' I am very excited and expectant," adding, "It seems to have come out as a work filled with intriguing questions."
'Hellbound' showcased the pinnacle of a dystopian worldview and topped the 2021 Golden Tomato Awards for Best Horror Series. It was lauded in over 93 countries, making it into the series' Top 10.
Season 2 depicts a world even more plunged into chaos. Chairman Jung Jin-soo of the New Truth Society and Park Jung-ja will resurrect. Around them, lawyer Min Hye-jin of Sodo, the New Truth Society, and the Arrowhead faction become newly entangled.
