Actress Kim So-yeon is ahead of her time, transforming into an adult toy door-to-door saleswoman in the 90s.
On the 25th, JTBC announced that the casting for the new drama 'Pure Sales' has been finalized. Starring Kim So-yeon, Yeon Woo-jin, Kim Sung-ryung, Kim Sun-young, and Lee Se-hee, the drama has also previewed its characters and story.
'Pure Sales' (written by Choi Bo-rim, directed by Jo Woong) is set in a rural village in 1992. It tells the story of 'Bangpan Sisters' who venture into the taboo field of adult toy door-to-door sales, exploring their independence, growth, and friendship.
Directed by Jo Woong, the drama is a remake of 'Brief Encounters,' which aired on the UK's ITV in 2016. Kim So-yeon, Kim Sung-ryung, Kim Sun-young, Lee Se-hee, and Yeon Woo-jin portray a candid and exciting journey of self-discovery and growth.
Kim So-yeon plays Han Jung-sook, a housewife with stunning beauty who has lived a pure life just like her name suggests. However, after realizing her family's financial struggles, she starts selling foreign adult products door-to-door and discovers her talent for marketing.
Yeon Woo-jin takes on the role of Kim Do-hyun, an Ivy League graduate who rapidly climbed the ranks at the Gangnam Police Station after returning to South Korea, only to be transferred to a provincial station while hiding a secret.
Kim Sung-ryung portrays Oh Geum-hee, the elegant brain of the 'Bangpan Sisters.' She joins the adult toy sales industry to help Jung-sook, who had worked as a housekeeper, and undergoes an unexpected self-reflection.
Kim Sun-young completes the role of Seo Young-bok, a mother of many children. She lives in poverty despite having a large family crammed into a single room and starts door-to-door sales to provide rooms for her children.
Lee Se-hee transforms into Lee Joo-ri, a single mom running a beauty salon and raising her son alone. She initially sees door-to-door sales as a diversion from her monotonous life but grows into a resilient character who doesn't give up under any circumstances.
The production team stated, "These seasoned lead actors, whom you can always trust to watch, bring back the 90s. We are confident that their excellent performances will bring life to the unique subject matter and dramatic storytelling."
They added, "Please look forward to the growth story of the 'Bangpan Sisters,' who, through the medium of 'adult toy door-to-door sales,' build strong bonds of friendship and energetically strive for a better life in a conservative rural village."
