Positive feedback from foreign media and viewers poured in immediately after its release. They praised "Trigger" for its fresh concept and highlighted Kim Nam-gil's action performance as a significant point of interest.

The American weekly magazine Time commented, "If this work had been produced in the United States, it would have been a common action thriller. However, South Korea has strict gun regulations, bringing a freshness to the background."

Positive reactions also continued on Rotten Tomatoes, a leading movie review site in the United States. "Trigger" achieved a 100% rating from critics, acknowledged for its high level of completeness.

Kim Nam-gil's refreshing action received significant acclaim. In the series, he portrays Lee Do, a police officer skilled in handling various firearms, fighting to save citizens from gun-related accidents.

Through action, he conveyed the character's story, stating, "This drama is about people, not guns," and added, "I tried to minimize unnecessary movements and worked hard for restrained action."
