Actor Kim Nam-gil returns with a fantasy film that feels like reality. On the 14th, the production team of the movie 'The Way to Open the Door' (directed by Park Ji-wan and Heo Ji-ye) released character stills featuring lead actors Kim Nam-gil, Sim So-young, and Go Gyu-pil, hinting at unique and diverse fantasy-like stories of characters.
'The Way to Open the Door' is a short film. It tells the story of a young adult named 'Haneul', whose first step towards independence—his own home—mysteriously disappears overnight, and his struggle to find it.
In the stills, Kim Nam-gil appears in an extraordinary look. A representative stated, "He appears before Haneul's eyes like magic, wearing colorful clothes, and guides Haneul with a special method to find his home."
Kim Nam-gil plays the adult Chul-su. Chul-su is Haneul's friend from the orphanage and appears both as a young adult of Haneul's age and as an older adult.
Sim So-young takes on dual roles. She first plays a real estate agent introducing the home that Haneul desires and also takes on the role of a guide at the lost-and-found center in the otherworld that Haneul enters to find his disappeared home.
Go Gyu-pil's gentle smile also stands out. However, he takes on the character of a boss who only cares about profit, running a cute, colorful car wash in the middle of nowhere.
The film was planned and produced by Kim Nam-gil and KB Kookmin Bank to support young adults preparing for self-reliance. It distinctively expresses the realities faced by young people in society through the fantasy genre.
The movie will be released on the 20th.
