Broadcaster Kim Na-jeong has been sent to the prosecution on suspicion of drug use. On the 24th, the Drug Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency announced that Kim Na-jeong was forwarded without detention. She is accused of violating the drug control law in the Philippines (use of methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana).
The drug use case of Kim Na-jeong became known to the public after she turned herself in. On November 10 of last year, she wrote on SNS, "I am turning myself in for using drugs in the Philippines."
The post was quickly deleted. However, a captured version spread online, and a netizen reported her to the police. Kim Na-jeong returned to Korea two days later and was investigated by the police.
Kim Na-jeong claimed that she was forced to inhale drugs in the Philippines. She alleged that a young businessman she met there tied her hands, blindfolded her, and forced her to inhale drug smoke.
Kim Na-jeong submitted related materials, and the police went through an analysis process for three months. The conclusion was that there was no coercion. "We determined that the submitted materials were not sufficient to prove coercion," they explained.
