Kim Mun-soo’s TK Campaign Sees No Visible Members of the People’s Power Party… Only One Attends the Dinner Invitation

The People's Power Party faces criticism for its lukewarm support of candidate Kim Moon-soo's campaign efforts.

Concerns have been raised both within and outside the party that members of the People's Power Party are being passive regarding candidate Kim Moon-soo’s campaign.

Some members of the People's Power Party have not posted a single item related to Kim’s campaigning activities or the election committee on their Facebook pages.

On the Facebook pages of pro-Han Gye members like Kim Yeo-ji, Yoo Yong-won, and Jin Jong-o, as well as the majority of People's Power Party members like Kim Jae-seop and Kim Tae-ho, there were only posts about legislative activities or other issues, with no posts related to the campaign.

This stands in stark contrast to members of the Democratic Party, who have actively changed their Facebook profile pictures to that of the party's presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung and promoted campaign events in real-time.

A passive atmosphere was also sensed at the campaign events. During the launch ceremony of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk election committee on the 13th, several legislators, including Kim Seok-ki, Kwon Young-jin, Kim Hyung-dong, and Yoo Young-ha, were absent. They cited reasons like "broadcast schedules," but most were lawmakers who had not supported Kim, leading to criticism about their lack of enthusiasm for the campaign.

During a dinner with local lawmakers, most of them reportedly did not attend due to personal reasons, leaving Kim to dine alone with just one legislator.

A senior lawmaker expressed concern, saying, "How can the candidate gain momentum when no lawmakers or party committee chairs are properly sending members to the campaign site?"

Currently, former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, former leader of the People's Power Party Han Dong-hoon, and former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo are not participating in the central election committee. Lawmakers who supported the pro-Han Dong-hoon faction and former Prime Minister Han are also not actively supporting Kim’s candidacy.

Typically, legislative representatives, who are free from constituency duties, send numerous aides to bolster the election committee. However, this time, it’s reported that some proportional representatives centered around pro-Han Gye have refused to join the election committee, leading to a reduction in the number of aides sent.

It seems that in response to this situation, People's Power Party member Ahn Cheol-soo held a press conference in the National Assembly's communication room on the 15th, emphasizing party unity and urging support for presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo.

He stated, "In the Battle of Myeongnyang, General Lee Sun-sin sailed out alone to fight against 133 enemy ships; right now, Kim Moon-soo seems to be that lonely," and appealed, "Now is the time to follow the flagship, Kim Moon-soo."
