Kim Mun-soo: “Everything Will Return to Its Place – Justice Prevails, Democracy Lives Forever, Dictatorship is Doomed”

Kwon Young-se, the chairman of the emergency response committee, resigns… Chaos in the People Power Party settles down after a day

The attempt by the People Power Party to replace its presidential candidate has effectively been nullified as it was rejected in a party member vote.

Consequently, presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo has immediately regained his eligibility, and Kwon Young-se has announced his resignation. Candidate Kim stated, "Justice will be served, democracy will live on, tyranny will perish, and party reform will be achieved," adding, "Now everything will return to its rightful place."

On the night of the 10th, candidate Kim released a statement saying, "I will immediately launch the election campaign committee and set up a big tent to create a front against Lee Jae-myung." He continued, "I would like to thank candidates Han Dong-hoon, Hong Joon-pyo, Ahn Cheol-soo, Na Kyung-won, Yang Hyang-ja, Yoo Jung-bok, and Lee Cheol-woo who participated in the primary. Together with these candidates, I will definitely lead the presidential election to victory."

"Immediate restoration of status" – Kim Moon-soo, public message to Han Duck-soo whose unification did not materialize

In his message that day, candidate Kim directly addressed Han Duck-soo, saying, "I hope that candidate Han will remain with the party until the end and join us in this presidential election." He emphasized, "I will join forces with everyone who shares our beliefs," and stated, "The People Power Party will become the foundation for victory through innovation. We will now create a new and great Republic of Korea."

Earlier, the People Power Party had successively convened the emergency response committee from the previous day until the early hours of today, pushing for a party member vote on candidate replacement, but the agenda was rejected in the voting held during the day.

As a result, candidate Kim Moon-soo regained his presidential candidate status in just one day.

Kwon Young-se's resignation… Kwon Sung-dong to serve as acting chairman

On this day, Kwon Young-se remarked, "I made my decision in accordance with the will of the party members, but ultimately, I did not obtain their consent," and expressed his apology to the party members and the public for the confusion during the procedures and processes. He stated, "With the rejection of the candidate re-selection agenda, all related decisions of the emergency committee are rendered null and void, and candidate Kim Moon-soo’s eligibility is immediately restored."

He added, "The failure to achieve unification is due to my shortcomings. I will take full responsibility and resign." The emergency committee will now be led by Kwon Sung-dong as acting chairman.

Spokesperson Shin Dong-wook noted, "In today's meeting, the emergency committee members, the chairman, and even the floor leader expressed their willingness to take responsibility, but given that candidate registration will take place tomorrow and campaigning will commence, we will quickly reorganize the practical systems."
