Kim Moon-soo, the Minister of Employment and Labor and a leading candidate in the conservative camp for the presidential election, announced his resignation from the ministerial position today (the 8th) to enter the presidential race.

According to the Ministry of Labor and other sources, Minister Kim is expected to express his intention to resign after the Cabinet meeting at the Government Seoul Complex at 10 a.m. today, and he will hold a farewell ceremony at the Government Sejong Complex at 3 p.m.

After resigning, Minister Kim plans to fully engage in preparations for the presidential election. His actions, having ranked first in support of the conservative camp during the presidential preference surveys throughout the impeachment phase of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, are anticipated to intensify the electoral competition within the ruling camp.

Declaration of Candidacy by Potential Candidates from the Ruling Camp Intensifies

Meanwhile, declarations of candidacy for the early presidential election are intensifying among potential candidates from the ruling camp.

Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, will declare his candidacy for the early presidential election at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul at 11 a.m. today.

Ahn's team stated, "We chose the location for the announcement with the slogan of national unity and a change of era, expressing our desire for national harmony."

Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo is also expected to hold his candidacy announcement event at Daehan Building in Yeouido on the 14th.

It has also been reported that Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon is set to reveal his intention to run soon.

With declarations of candidacy from prominent figures within the conservative camp following one another, the official race for the primaries has begun. This early presidential election, triggered by the impeachment of the former president, is slated to take place on June 3.
