Kim Moon-soo, in the end, the ‘unification conflict’ of the National Power… begins campaign as faceless promotional material

The name and face of Kim Moon-soo could not be included on election promotional materials by the People Power Party.

A day before the 'June 3 early presidential election' campaign, Kim Moon-soo, the candidate of the People Power Party, who narrowly regained his candidacy, is expected to face difficulties during the election campaign.

According to reports from the political sphere on the 11th, some of the election promotional materials for candidate Kim were ordered without his name.

This issue appears to have emerged when the People Power Party confirmed Kim Moon-soo as the final candidate shortly before the candidate registration deadline on the 10th at around 11 PM.

In fact, in the early morning of today (12th), Kim visited the Garak Market on Yangjae-daero in Songpa-gu, Seoul, wearing a representative 'red' jacket of the party while meeting with merchants without any printed materials.

Earlier, on the 6th, Kim's chief of staff, Kim Jae-won, claimed in an interview on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' that "the party approached us and insisted that we must complete the unification by the 7th to contract for promotional materials and election supplies."

Subsequently, the People Power Party’s presidential primary election management committee and emergency countermeasure committee cited the results of a public opinion poll, which indicated that unification must occur before the last day of candidate registration on the 11th, and stripped Kim of his candidacy in the early morning of the 10th, replacing him with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.

In response, Kim held an emergency press conference on that morning, stating, "The emergency committee unlawfully stripped me of the candidate status that was rightfully elected by the people and party members,” and strongly condemned, “The democracy of our party died last night."

The leadership's decision led to a vote among People Power Party members from 10 AM to 9 PM on the same day, regarding whether to cancel Kim Moon-soo's candidacy and replace him with Han Duck-soo. As a result of the vote, Kim was barely able to restore his candidacy.

Starting from today (12th), the 'June 3 early presidential election' campaign has officially begun, meaning the People Power Party will conduct an so-called 'anonymous election campaign' without Kim's face and name.

Meanwhile, the 'June 3 early presidential election' campaign will run from midnight today for a duration of 22 days. During this period, candidates and campaigners are allowed to distribute candidate business cards and post banners.

Speeches are permitted in public places from 7 AM to 11 PM, and supporters, excluding campaigners, are allowed to participate in rallies.
