Singer Kim Min-ki has passed away at the age of 73.

Kim Min-ki departed from this world on the afternoon of the 21st due to the worsening of his stomach cancer symptoms. The mortuary for the deceased has been set up in Room 2 of Seoul National University Hospital's funeral hall.

The deceased was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer last fall. He had been receiving outpatient chemotherapy treatment until recently. It is reported that his condition worsened due to the metastasis of the cancer cells.

Kim Min-ki was a representative singer-songwriter of Korea. His representative songs include the protest song "Morning Dew," "Evergreen," "Friend," "Lord," and "Village near the Camp."

During his life, he operated the symbolic small theater of Daehangno, "Hakchon," for 30 years, fostering younger artists. Musicians such as the late Kim Kwang-seok, Yoon Do-hyun, and Jung Jae-il originated from Hakchon.

He was also active as a musical director. The first performance of "Subway Line 1" in 1994 remains a monumental work in the history of Korean musicals. It also discovered talents such as Seol Kyung-gu, Kim Yoon-seok, Hwang Jung-min, Jang Hyun-sung, and Jo Seung-woo.

Despite financial difficulties, he led Daehangno’s performance culture. He directed works such as "Brotherhood of War" and "Dog Poop." He also poured his passion into children's plays such as "We Are Friends" and "Gochujang Tteokbokki."

Meanwhile, the funeral for the deceased will be held at 8 AM on the 24th. The cemetery is Cheonan Park Cemetery.
