Actress Kim Go-eun captivated the international film festival.
The movie "Laws of Love in the Big City" (directed by Lee Eon-hee) was invited to the Special Presentations section at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival. The red carpet and world premiere took place on the 14th and 15th (KST).
The red carpet event was heated with enthusiastic interest in the actors. Especially, Kim Go-eun garnered attention with her bold short haircut. She perfectly pulled off a pure white dress and suit.
The official screening was filled with continuous laughter and admiration from the audience. Unprecedentedly, there were rounds of applause during the screening, and a standing ovation followed. This demonstrated the audience's intense reaction and high satisfaction.
A total of two screenings were held, both of which were sold out. Kim Go-eun, Noh Sang-hyun, and Director Lee Eon-hee communicated through a Q&A session after the official screening, receiving numerous questions from the local audience.
Director Lee Eon-hee pointed out the differences between the original novel and the movie. "We adapted the story to show Ja-hee and Heung-su looking at each other and living their lives in a balanced way," she explained.
Kim Go-eun shared the reason she took the role. "Ja-hee has a vulnerable and wounded side. Watching her actions to hide that made me empathize with her a lot. I wanted to express that well," she revealed.
Noh Sang-hyun said, "I was intrigued by how Heung-su, who has deficiencies, overcomes them after meeting Ja-hee. The script was honest and straightforward, which attracted me," he pointed out.
"Laws of Love in the Big City" is about Ja-hee, a free spirit, and Heung-su, who keeps a distance from the world. It portrays their unique way of loving while living together.
The film is set to release in theaters on the 1st of next month.
