Actresses Kim Go-eun and Park Ji-hyun depict a friendship characterized by both affection and animosity.
Netflix's new series "Eun-jung and Sang-yeon" (written by Song Hye-jin, directed by Jo Young-min) has set its release date for the 12th of next month. Ahead of its debut, a teaser poster and trailer have been unveiled.
"Eun-jung and Sang-yeon" tells the story of two friends who find themselves alternately loving and envying each other, weaving a complex narrative over the course of their lives. The poster hints at their relationship with the tagline "Between admiration and resentment." Both characters are shown standing before faded photographs of one another.
They have been intertwined in each other’s lives from their teenage years into their 40s. What kind of friends will they become in each other's lives? The trailer begins with Sang-yeon harshly speaking to Eun-jung.

The two experienced two breakups and grew distant as a result. Eun-jung remarked, "When Sang-yeon is beside me, everything I have feels ordinary and insignificant." Sang-yeon reflected, "That was the moment when I sensed I could never surpass this child." They exchanged numerous emotions, sometimes filled with admiration and at other times with inferiority.
The story of these two friends vividly demonstrates emotions that anyone might have experienced at least once. Eun-jung confessed, "I want to know Sang-yeon's true feelings, even just once."
It explored the confusion and misunderstandings stemming from the emotions of the other person, which were understood deeply yet remained elusive. What kind of conclusion will their friendship come to?
Director Jo Young-min stated, "I thought of companionship as the essence of this work. Following Eun-jung and Sang-yeon's lives allows one to encounter their past selves and think of friends."
He added, "I believe it will resonate with my life and the lives around me. It might lead to understanding and forgiveness of others, as well as self-discovery."
