Kim was detained on the 12th under charges of violating the Capital Markets Act and the Political Funds Act, and for receiving bribes under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

According to the Criminal Procedure Act, the detention period for a suspect is generally 10 days, but it can be extended once for a maximum of 20 days. With this extension decision, the Special Prosecutor's Team can proceed with further investigations into Ms. Kim.

The Special Prosecutor's Investigation Process and Kim's Response

Since her detention, Kim appeared for questioning by the Special Prosecutor on the 14th and the 18th. However, it is known that she exercised her right to remain silent regarding most of the allegations during the investigation process.

This can be seen as part of her legal right to defend herself. The Special Prosecutor's Team initially scheduled a third summons for Ms. Kim on the 20th. However, Kim communicated a handwritten statement through the detention center, indicating that she would be unable to attend for health reasons.
