The incident of death caused by the assault of a karaoke room owner, court ruling
The court sentenced a 50-year-old owner to prison for assaulting a customer over a payment dispute at a karaoke studio, leading to the customer's death.
On the 28th, the Incheon District Court's Criminal Division 12 (Judge Choi Young-gak) sentenced A (56) to four years in prison for manslaughter.

On December 1 last year, at around 12:22 AM, A is accused of hitting customer B (64) three times on the back of the head, resulting in his death at a karaoke room in Namdong-gu, Incheon.
At the time of the incident, A was involved in an argument with B regarding an additional charge and assaulted him, during which B fell down the stairs and hit his head on the floor.
Attempt to conceal the incident and the victim's death
Despite B suffering serious injuries, A left the scene without providing any assistance and reported B to the emergency services as simply a "drunken person."
Due to this, the responding ambulance crew could not provide appropriate treatment for B and sent him home.

Ultimately, B was later transferred to the hospital's intensive care unit, but he died four days after the incident due to injuries including "head trauma and subdural hemorrhage."
The court stated, "The defendant assaulted the victim, causing him to fall down the stairs and hit his head on the floor, and then left the scene without any assistance, reporting the victim to the emergency services merely as a drunken person." It concluded that "As a result, the victim was sent home and ultimately lost consciousness and died."
The court added, "The bereaved family has suffered mental shock and sorrow due to the victim's sudden death and is requesting a severe punishment for the defendant," while also considering that the defendant admitted to the crime in explaining the rationale for sentencing.
