Actor Kang Ha-neul presents a striking first impression.
On the 19th, Netflix announced the release date for the movie '84 Square Meters' (directed by Kim Tae-joon), stating, "'84 Square Meters' will meet viewers worldwide on the 18th."
'84 Square Meters' is a thriller. It begins when a man exhausts all his resources to purchase an apartment measuring 84 square meters. He seeks to uncover the source of disturbing noises from the apartment above.
A teaser poster has also been revealed. Woo-sung (played by Kang Ha-neul) is seen standing against the backdrop of a high-rise apartment, wearing a bewildered expression as if confronted with unexpected events.
The apartment windows capture various neighbors. They maintain a state of suspicion towards one another, hinting at the unsettling conflicts that the noise will provoke.
The teaser trailer carries a significant weight as well. It depicts Woo-sung's journey to secure a home in Seoul through a mortgage, retirement funds, the deposit for a studio apartment, and his mother's garlic farm.
However, happiness in the new home didn't last long. He soon found himself haunted by malicious noises every night, transforming the atmosphere into something chilling.
Suspicious neighbors added to the mounting tension. The residents' representative, Eun-hwa (played by Yumdong), coldly smiles, asserting, "Nothing noisy must happen."
The man from the apartment above, Jin-ho (played by Seo Hyun-woo), aggressively searches for the source of the noise, questioning Woo-sung, "Can I check inside?"
Towards the end of the trailer, lines hinting at a murder incident in the adjacent apartment complex arose, sending chills down the spine and foreboding the worst-case scenario.
The direction is handled by Kim Tae-joon, marking the second thriller following Netflix's 'Just Dropped My Smartphone.' It explores real horror through a real estate theme.
Meanwhile, '84 Square Meters' will be available for viewing on Netflix next month, on the 18th.
