The golden mix has been completed. Huntix has reached the top of the Billboard Song Chart.
On the 12th (Korean time), Billboard announced its chart forecasts. The OST "Golden" from the Netflix movie "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has topped the main single chart, "Hot 100."
"Golden" jumped one spot compared to its previous position (2nd place). It surpassed American singer-songwriter Alex Warren's debut album title track "Ordinary," marking its first chart-topping position.
It is the 9th song to reach number one among K-pop songs. BTS has previously claimed the "Hot 100" top position eight times with both group and solo tracks (Jimin's "Like Crazy" and Jungkook's "Seven").
As a female artist, it is the first time for K-pop. Huntix has become the girl group that conquered the "Hot 100" after 24 years since Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious."
The "Hot 100" ranks songs based on a combination of U.S. streaming data (official audio and video), radio broadcast scores, and sales data, making it a challenging structure for K-pop songs to chart.
"Golden" was streamed 31.7 million times during the chart accumulation period (1st to 7th), showing a 9% increase compared to the previous week. Radio broadcast scores rose by 71% to 8.4 million plays, and sales reached 7,000 copies.
This song is performed by Huntix, a virtual girl group from "K-Pop Demon Hunters." Teddy, 24, and others from The Black Label participated in the song's production, with vocals by Korean-American Jae, Audrey Nuna, and Rayami.
The song's popularity has driven interest in the movie. Its bright melody combined with hopeful lyrics and soaring high notes captivated global listeners, and it performed well on various charts.
Notably, the Billboard chart performance has been remarkable. "Golden" made its debut on the "Hot 100" at number 81 last month. It then soared to 23rd, 6th, 4th, and 2nd places before hitting number one in its 7th week.
