"When my mental game changed, my golf changed."
When Jason Day reached the world number one ranking, he stated, "My mental game changed, and my golf has improved." He attributed his success in PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) tournaments to 'mental strength.' Golf is a mental sport. The saying "even if your swing is off, your mental state must not falter" is regarded as the truth. Especially in 'putting' or 'tee shots,' mental stability is key to determining victory or defeat. However, most golfers focus solely on practicing their swings and neglect mental training. In contrast, top-ranking players incorporate mental training as a chapter in their training process.
The 'Focus Band,' designed by world-renowned golf coach Ian Triggs, has landed in the Republic of Korea. Collaborating with Professor Lee Joo-ho from the 'Kookmin University' Golf Department (HPGA Academy), they have launched the 'Focus Band Mental Training Center.'

The Focus Band is a wearable device equipped with EEG (electroencephalogram) sensors. It measures the alpha and theta waves in the frontal lobe, providing real-time feedback on the user's mental relaxation and concentration state. The Focus Band is not merely a tool for displaying data; it is equipment that assists in forming immersion routines, capturing mental transition points, and training to maintain focus. Professor Lee Joo-ho stated, "It is a system that converts mental training into a trainable technology," adding, "Users can receive immediate feedback on their state and strengthen their routine concentration loop."
In particular, the Focus Band analyzes the moments when anxiety arises, enabling training that prepares for real competition. It allows users to identify shaky situations and redesign their mental routines.

Top-ranking players like Justin Rose are utilizing the Focus Band for mental training. Other players, including Karrie Webb, Gladys Nocera, Yoo So-yeon, Mo Martin, Marina Alex, and Charley Hull, are also benefiting from Ian Triggs' guidance. Domestic players have improved their concentration through Focus Band training. Lee Tae-hoon, Choi Eun-woo, Lee So-young, and Kim Ah-rim shared that "their pre-shot routines have improved, and they feel a sense of stability in high-pressure situations." Professor Lee Joo-ho remarked, "We are the first in the Republic of Korea to introduce the Focus Band training system through collaboration with Ian Triggs," adding, "We plan to establish mental training protocols tailored to the circumstances of Korean athletes."
Meanwhile, the HPGA Training Center is the only official education institution for Focus Band in the Republic of Korea, offering customized programs for the general public and coaching training courses.
