"Direct presidential elections, expelling a few individuals is not democracy"… Announcement of the return to the People Power Party
Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo has effectively responded to the calls from his supporters for him to run for the presidency ahead of the early election. Minister Kim emphasized the need for direct presidential elections and expressed concerns over the political reality of repeated impeachments.
On the 5th, at a press conference titled "Call for Kim Moon-soo's Presidential Candidacy" held near his home, Minister Kim stated, "I have no personal ambitions, but this country cannot continue like this," adding, "If several people conspire to impeach a president even once, it will ultimately become a problem regardless of who becomes the president."

He further questioned, "We must deeply ponder whether the National Assembly and Constitutional Court's continuous impeachment of a president elected through direct elections aligns with democracy," stressing, "The essence of a democratic constitution lies in the direct election of the president by the people."
"The presidency must be elected by all citizens… It's time to amend the constitution"
Minister Kim stated, "Countless sacrifices were made to move beyond the era where a few representatives in a gymnasium elected the president." He insisted, "Now, we must amend the constitution itself to prevent the recurring impeachment of a president elected by the people through a minority decision."
Additionally, he expressed to his supporters, "I hope your hard work blossoms like spring flowers," and remarked, "Even if there are differences in thought, true democracy can only begin when we unite." This press conference was led by the Citizens' Coalition, a federation of conservative civic organizations.

"Immediately return and run for office"… Supporters' demands likely to be answered soon
The Citizens' Coalition officially demanded Minister Kim's return to the People Power Party and his candidacy for the presidential election. The organization urged, "Minister Kim's candidacy is both a mission and a calling," and emphasized, "The People Power Party must immediately allow his return and open the path for his participation in the primaries."
Minister Kim is expected to resign from his ministerial position after the Cabinet meeting on the 8th and submit an application to return to the People Power Party. If his return is approved, he is anticipated to officially announce his candidacy and actively join the conservative presidential primary race.
