Jisoo from 'Blackpink' crosses through a swarm of zombies. She will portray a confident character in the new work 'Newtopia'.
On the 26th, Coupang Play released stills of Jisoo's character in the new series 'Newtopia'. The stills capture her instinct to move straight forward through a crowd of zombies, hinting at the bold storyline of the character 'Young-joo'.
In the stills, Jisoo is seen as the engineering goddess 'Young-joo'. She sits alone in a university lecture hall filled with male students in checkered shirts. The scene continues with her receiving a surprise confession.
A twist unfolds. She is shown with a fearful expression, tears welling up in her eyes. This depicts a moment of utter panic as a swarm of zombies suddenly appears.
A source stated, "The two hands gripping the golf club tightly reveal Young-joo's bold determination to reach her boyfriend despite Seoul being overrun by zombies."
Jisoo shared, "I was captivated by Young-joo's charm from the beginning. I had a desire to portray the character well," and "I hope viewers enjoy watching Young-joo's growth journey."
Director Yoon Seong-hyun hinted, "Jisoo's quirky and humorous traits matched 99% with the Young-joo I envisioned in the script. She portrayed Young-joo even better than I imagined."
'Newtopia' is an apocalyptic story following soldier Jae-yoon and his girlfriend Young-joo as they run towards each other across a zombie-infested Seoul. It is based on the novel 'Influenza'.
'Newtopia' is scheduled to premiere on February 7th at 8 PM next year.
