Actress Jeon Yeo-been portrays a character with secrets. On the 18th, the movie ‘Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) released character stills of Sister Michaela (played by Jeon Yeo-been). Her enigmatic expression aroused curiosity.
Sister Michaela is a psychiatric resident and a disciple of Father Paolo. She claims there are no symptoms of possession but feels confused by phenomena that cannot be explained by medicine. Sister Yunia (played by Song Hye-kyo) visits her, making an unwavering request for support, which initially provokes resistance.
However, her genuine demeanor piques Michaela’s interest. She is a multilayered character that is difficult to define by a single trait. Jeon Yeo-been delicately conveys Michaela, and her performance enhances immersion. Jeon Yeo-been stated, “I tried to understand Michaela’s heart” and “I strived to perceive the reality of the situations the character is placed in for detailed eye expressions.”
Meanwhile, ‘Black Nuns’ tells the story of people embarking on a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by an evil spirit. It is set for a theatrical release on January 24th next year.
