An unfortunate accident occurred involving an 80-year-old female diver who was diving off the coast of Jeju.
According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, around 2:08 PM on the 7th, the diver, identified as Ms. A (84), was found floating in the sea near the Jeju Passenger Terminal in Geunip-dong, Jeju City.

Ms. A was rescued by another diver who was working with her, but she was already in cardiac arrest. Emergency medical services attempted to provide first aid and transported her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead around 3 PM.
This incident highlighted the dangerous working conditions faced by elderly female divers.

The Coast Guard is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, and there is a need for safety measures to prevent such tragic events from recurring.
In the Jeju region, many female divers continue to work in traditional ways, and there is an urgent need for support and training to ensure their safety.
