Ive has been embroiled in an anti-Japanese controversy ahead of their comeback. Japanese netizens raised issues with scenes in the teaser, such as one where they burn origami cranes. They also pointed out that the video release date is the day before the Nagasaki atomic bombing (August 9).

The director of the production company 'New Year,' OUI, addressed the situation on social media on the 13th. He directly clarified the controversial parts, refuting that there is "(anti-Japanese sentiment, etc.) or any other meaning at all." He also mentioned peace.

He explained that the concept incorporates a new album idea. "We aimed to express an 'evil cupid' that disrupts lovers' affection. The burning of origami cranes, a medium of love, was necessary for the direction."

Ive unveiled the trailer for their fourth mini-album 'Ive Secret' on the 8th. They boldly flipped the bright and lovely cupid image, showcasing a chilling 'evil cupid' concept.

The members appeared as cupids, burning origami cranes and smashing winged objects. They also aimed a gun at a unicorn plush toy and fired.

A controversy arose in Japan, interpreting the scenes as expressing anti-Japanese sentiments. Some netizens pointed out that the video was released a day before the Nagasaki atomic bombing.

The Japanese member, Rei, wearing an outfit with the phrase "I'm Sorry," was also mentioned. It was analyzed as a portrayal emphasizing Japan as a wartime aggressor nation.

However, "I'm Sorry" is the name of an apparel brand launched by Canadian photographer Petra Collins, who has seen members of girl groups like Jeon Somi, 'Miao' Ella, and Chu wear this brand previously.

Domestic netizens criticized Japan's responses as unreasonable, arguing that origami cranes symbolize love in Korea and that "I'm Sorry" is simply a brand name.

Additionally, they have embraced various genres, featuring songs like 'Wild Bird,' 'Dear, My Feelings,' 'Gotcha,' and 'Bbibbi.' The new album will be released on major music streaming sites at 6 PM on the 25th.
