"Ive's new song has anti-Japan codes? It's just a concept portrayal." (Music Video Director)
Ive has unexpectedly become embroiled in an anti-Japanese controversy. Some Japanese netizens have pointed out the scene in the teaser where Rei burns a paper crane, highlighting that the video’s release date is the day before the Nagasaki atomic bombing (August 9).
The director of the teaser, OUI, clarified on social media on the 13th, stating, "The intention was to express the concept of 'evil cupid' that hinders the love of lovers," and added, "There is no other meaning behind the burning of the paper crane, which is a medium of love."

Ive unveiled the trailer for their fourth mini-album 'IVE SECRET' on the 8th. They boldly flipped the bright and lovely cupid image, showcasing a chilling 'evil cupid' concept.
The members appeared dressed as cupids, burning paper cranes or smashing winged objects. They also aimed a gun at a unicorn doll and fired. Some Japanese netizens interpreted these scenes as expressing anti-Japanese sentiment, particularly noting the video's release date being the day before the Nagasaki atomic bombing. They speculated that the representation of Rei, who is Japanese, was intended to show anti-Japanese feelings.

The outfit worn by Japanese member Rei, which featured the phrase 'I'm sorry,' was also mentioned. They extended this interpretation to highlight Japan as a war criminal nation during World War II. However, 'I'm sorry' is the name of a clothing brand launched by Canadian photographer Petra Collins, and prior, members of girl groups like Jeon Somi, Myao Ella, and Chuu have also worn items from this brand.
Domestic netizens criticized the Japanese reaction as being overly forceful. They rebutted by noting that in Korea, paper cranes symbolize love and that 'I'm sorry' is simply a brand name.

'Ive Secret' is an album that subverts the existing image and presents a three-dimensional worldview. It focuses on the emotional flow hidden behind flashy expressions. It contains a total of six tracks.
The members have hinted at their grown musical capabilities, with Jang Won-young participating in the lyrics for the title track 'XOXZ' and Liz contributing to the lyrics for the B-side track 'Midnight Kiss.'
They also explored various genres, including 'Wild Bird,' 'Dear, My Feelings,' 'Gotcha,' and 'Pibik.' The new release will be available on major music streaming sites on the 25th at 6 PM.
