IU’s management has once again issued an apology, this time regarding the controversy surrounding concert ticket reservations and announced improvements to the system.

EDAM Entertainment posted a second statement on the official fan cafe on April 9th concerning the scandal involving wrongful accusations of illicit ticket trading and the “undercover inspector” system.

The agency declared the abolition of the problematic system, which rewarded fans for reporting suspected illegal transactions with tickets from cancellations.

For ticket reservations without financial transactions, they will not be considered illicit dealings. The agency also promised to simplify the verification process and forbid the demand for unreasonable verification periods.

Improvements to the identity verification process were also mentioned. “For underage attendees, tickets can be claimed with a family relation certificate or a copy of the resident registration,” the statement elaborated.

The practice of permanently banning members from the official fan club for scalping will change to a “penalty application” instead of “permanent ban,” though the policy on permanent bans for threatening the artist’s safety or invading their privacy remains unchanged.

The agency expressed remorse, “We apologize once again to fans and the artist who might have felt discomfort due to our management policies.”

They assured continuous monitoring and openness to feedback for improvement, committing to prevention of similar incidents in the future.

Previously, a fan known as A was wrongfully accused of illegal concert ticket trading last month. They were denied entry on the day of the concert and were permanently banned from the fan club.

A detailed the events on a blog, including receiving a mail for clarification from the agency, which was later retracted, and being informed at the venue that ticket collection was not possible.

IU will continue her world tour in Singapore on the 20th and 21st of this month.
