A man playing 'golf' at a royal tomb in Gyeongju… Foreign tourists also shocked
A foreign tourist visiting Gyeongju was shocked to witness a Korean man playing golf at a royal tomb.
On the 26th, the city of Gyeongju announced that it received reports of a man playing golf at the Naemulwangneung, located in Gyeongju's Gyodong, on the 19th. The first person to witness this was foreign tourist A.
According to photos taken by A, which JTBC released, a man dressed in a white top and black bottom is seen holding a long stick, presumed to be a golf club, next to the royal tomb while getting into position.
Deeply shocked by the sight, A reportedly asked his Korean friend B, "Is it possible to play golf even at royal tombs in Korea?" B expressed his disbelief, saying, "That's nonsense," and the next day, he reported the man to the city hall along with his mother.

The city announced that there were no security cameras installed in the area, making it difficult to identify the man.
They added, "If the identity of the person who played golf is confirmed, we plan to apply 'obstruction of management activities' under the Cultural Heritage Preservation and Utilization Act."
Currently, Gyeongju is conducting patrols of over 290 historic sites with a team of nine members, and plans to strengthen patrols of historic sites following this incident.
