"Mask of a heinous murderer"… Kang Ho-soon's additional crimes still unsolved
SBS's "The Day That Follows" (hereafter "The Day That Follows") has once again shed light on the shocking reality of Korea's last serial killer, Kang Ho-soon.
In the special episode titled "The Real" aired on the 3rd, profiler Kwon Il-yong raised the possibility of additional crimes committed by Kang Ho-soon, sending chills down viewers' spines.

From fire insurance to serial murder… Endless crimes
The broadcast began with the 2005 fire incident in a semi-basement house in Ansan. In this case, where his wife and mother-in-law died, the husband, Mr. Kang, also known as Kang Ho-soon, escaped with his young children. It was later revealed that he had collected insurance payouts from 6 to 7 instances of fires, including a vehicle fire and a fire in the pig's intestines restaurant he operated.
The female victims missing in the Gyeonggi-do area all exhibited similar patterns. They disappeared from bus stops, and their mobile phone batteries were found separated. There were even victims who went missing just a day apart.
Kang Ho-soon was seen withdrawing cash using the victims' cards and engaging in bizarre behavior, such as inserting male contraceptive devices onto his fingers and disguising himself with wigs.
Kwon Il-yong: "DNA from a pickaxe, evidence of Kang Ho-soon's additional crimes"

Kang Ho-soon meticulously planned and executed the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of his victims.
According to Kwon Il-yong, even at the time of his arrest, Kang remained unabashed, insisting, "Do you have any evidence?" Kwon analyzed, "He showed typical characteristics of a psychopath, with a distorted value system regarding sex and a desire to control and dominate his victims."
The broadcast unveiled a video where Kang Ho-soon confessed to committing additional murders, stating, "There is one thing I hid. I killed one more person," shocking everyone.
This raises the unavoidable thought that this serial killer must have killed someone else. However, Kwon Il-yong, Korea's leading profiler, had a differing opinion.
He said, "The confession is intended to cover up another incident," revealing that the two female DNA samples confirmed from the pickaxe did not match those of the existing victims.

"I became a police officer to protect the victims' families"… A remark that moved viewers
To this day, Kang Ho-soon has never once apologized to the bereaved families. Towards the end of the broadcast, a message from the family member who lost their family and became a police officer was revealed.
"You killed my brother who had no guilt, but I became a police officer to protect your family," he conveyed.
Kwon Il-yong emphasized, "Our society must remember these victims and protect each other to prevent further incidents."
Meanwhile, "The Day That Follows" will cover the case of Oh Hwi-woong, the perpetrator of the Incheon family murder case, in next week's final episode of the special "The Real." The production team has teased an interview with the bereaved family, who they found 50 years after the incident, drawing interest.
