Taekwondo Dojo Master Under Investigation for Assaulting 12-Year-Old Student Who Wanted to Quit
An incident has occurred where a 12-year-old student, who expressed his desire to quit due to difficulty, was assaulted by the master of a taekwondo dojo.
According to the Jeonnam Haenam Police on the 14th, they are investigating Master A, who runs the taekwondo dojo, for violating the Child Welfare Act (child abuse).

Master A is accused of assaulting Student B (12) on the 8th when the child said, "It's hard, I want to quit the academy," by striking him on the head and chest.
As a result of the assault by the master, Student B reportedly suffered bruising and injuries requiring treatment. The child is currently receiving treatment at a general hospital in Haenam.
The police have secured CCTV footage and are in the process of investigating the details of the incident.
Responding to a report from the parents, the police are proceeding with the investigation by securing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the taekwondo dojo. They plan to ascertain the exact details concerning the master and others involved.

This incident is a case of child abuse that occurred in an educational setting, raising awareness about the ethics of instructors and the protection of children's rights in sports education facilities.
According to the Ministry of Education, the number of child abuse reports in educational facilities such as academies has been consistently increasing each year, and particularly in the field of sports, issues of violence arising from strict training processes are continuously being raised.
Under the Child Welfare Act, individuals who engage in child abuse can face imprisonment of up to 5 years or fines of up to 50 million won, and those with a history of child abuse may face restrictions on operating child-related educational institutions. The police plan to refer the case to prosecutors after establishing the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
