YouTuber and broadcaster Kwaktube (real name Kwak Jun-bin, 32) has been cleared of theft allegations from his school days. The disseminator, Mr. A, confessed that all the claims were false.
On the 20th, Mr. A apologized online, stating, "All the content about Kwaktube's theft was false. I generally did not like Kwaktube and wanted to defame him by spreading false information. I am sorry."
Earlier, Mr. A had posted claims questioning the authenticity of Kwaktube's bullying victimization, alleging that Kwaktube stole a Nintendo DS in the second year of middle school. SM C&C announced a firm response to the false claims.
In the end, Mr. A retracted the claims. "When my lies appeared in articles, it felt like I had become a famous criminal in a movie. A large company threatened to sue me, and as the situation escalated, I got scared and decided to write the truth."
All the content turned out to be false. "I didn't even attend the same middle school as Kwaktube. I am currently a second-year high school student, so we are not even the same age," he admitted. "It was all false information. I apologize again."
Mr. A also confessed to leaking Kwaktube's phone number and forging official documents while pretending to be a lawyer. "I partially disclosed Kwaktube's phone number to add credibility to my false claims," he revealed.
He continued, "I lied about being a lawyer to deceive administrators. I apologize for forging official documents and using illegal emails. I am sorry for the doxing and harm caused to Kwaktube because of my actions."
Meanwhile, on the 16th, Kwaktube got embroiled in controversy for a video defending former 'April' member Lee Na-eun. He faced criticism for attempting to pardon someone prematurely, as the bullying accusations against her were not yet resolved.
The agency stated, "We sincerely apologize for the discomfort caused by the issues surrounding Kwaktube. He is deeply reflecting on his actions." They also requested, "Please refrain from personal attacks and collective blame on acquaintances that go beyond constructive criticism."
