Lee Kyung-kyu, Multiple Accidents Before Drug Driving… 'Vehicle Mistake' Amidst Stumbling
Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu, who is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, was revealed to have caused several spontaneous driving incidents and accidents in the Gangnam area prior to being caught by the police.
Concerns among citizens are growing regarding his driving behavior, which goes beyond a simple drug reaction.
Collision with a Bus, Crossing the Center Line, and Mistaken Vehicle Takeover
According to a report from MBN on the 25th, CCTV footage confirms that on the day of the accident, Lee Kyung-kyu crashed into a parked bus in an alley in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Immediately after the accident, he exited the vehicle and stumbled onto the roadway rather than the sidewalk, causing two following vehicles to cross the center line to avoid him.
The bus driver stated in an interview, "Lee Kyung-kyu said he took cold medicine and his senses were dulled, so he couldn't park properly."
Immediately after the incident, Lee Kyung-kyu left the scene and sought medical attention at a nearby hospital. After receiving treatment, he was found to have left the scene not at the parking lot where he had parked but at a different parking lot 20 meters away, driving away in an unrelated foreign car. A parking lot employee mentioned, "When I explained that he hadn’t dropped off a car, he responded, 'Did I do that?' and walked away."
Rushing into a Car Wash and Illegal Left Turn… Police Positive for Drug Test
On that day, before visiting the hospital, Lee Kyung-kyu stopped at a car wash at a gas station, where he abruptly accelerated forward into a wall despite staff trying to guide him in reverse. He was also seen making an illegal left turn across the center line on a road without traffic lights.
The incident was reported to the police shortly after. At a golf practice range, due to a parking attendant's mistake, Lee Kyung-kyu was mistakenly directed to a vehicle that wasn’t his. Sensing something was off, he returned the vehicle, but a report from the actual owner led to police involvement and investigation. A preliminary drug test conducted at the scene showed a positive reaction for drugs.
As a result, the police have charged Lee Kyung-kyu with drug driving under the Road Traffic Law and have requested a detailed drug analysis from the National Forensic Service. A police official stated, "Even if it's a prescription drug, if it affects driving, it is a violation of the law."

Lee Kyung-kyu's team stated regarding the related allegations, "It was not intentional drug use, but rather an incident that occurred due to the combination of panic disorder medication and cold medicine," denying any deliberate wrongdoing. It has been reported that there is evidence of a prescription for cold medicine obtained at a pharmacy just before the accident.
The agency stated, "This is an unexpected misunderstanding, and we expect it will be clarified in the formal investigation."
However, as social awareness regarding the types of medications taken and the ability to drive grows, Lee Kyung-kyu's actions before and after driving have entered a phase that cannot simply be dismissed as a misunderstanding. The police plan to review whether to conduct additional investigations based on the detailed analysis results.
