Professional Boxer Police Officer Captures Escaping Unlicensed Illegal Immigrant
An incident where an illegal immigrant, who was evading arrest after being caught for driving without a license, was apprehended by a police officer with a background as a 'professional boxer' has gained attention.
On the 13th, the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency released a 45-second video titled "Escape is a Choice, Arrest is the Result" on its official YouTube channel.

According to the video, at around 5:30 PM on April 18, a vehicle violated the mandatory stop rule while making a right turn at a crosswalk in the Gwonseon District of Suwon.
Officer Jo Yeo-hun (34), who is part of the Gyeonggi West Police Station's Traffic Division and was conducting traffic enforcement at the scene, and his fellow officers immediately stopped the vehicle in question.
Identity Verification Process with an Escaping Foreigner
When Officer Jo asked the driver, a 20-something male from Uzbekistan identified as A, to present his driver's license, A instead showed his foreign registration card. What raised further suspicion was that the photo on the registration card did not match A's actual appearance. When Officer Jo began to ask more questions, A hesitated and said, "Please wait a moment," before suddenly attempting to flee.
Sudden Attempt to Escape
However, A's attempt to flee was in vain against the professional boxer police officer.

Driving dangerously in the middle of the road, A was eventually caught by Officer Jo after a chase of approximately 150 meters.
Outstanding Physical Fitness of a Former Professional Boxer
Officer Jo has been consistently training in boxing since becoming a police officer in 2015 and entered professional boxing in 2019.
He was previously a skilled fighter, having ranked 3rd in the lightweight (61kg) division of the Korea Boxing Association (KBA). In 2022, he also won a gold medal in the boxing category at the World Police and Fire Games.
Currently, A is being handed over to the Immigration Office on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license) and the Immigration Control Act (expired residency).

In an interview with News1, Officer Jo humbly stated, "I just did what I had to do," adding, "Not just me, but all police officers across the nation work like this." He further commented, "I will continue to dedicate myself to the public" and emphasized, "I will always run as if my feet are on fire."
