I-LIT received the Rookie of the Year award at a prestigious Japanese award ceremony. On the 21st, BelifLab announced, “I-LIT has been selected as the recipient of the Rookie of the Year award at the ’66th Shining! Japan Record Award’ (hereafter referred to as the ‘Japan Record Award’).”

The ‘Japan Record Award’ is a music awards ceremony hosted by the Japan Composer’s Association. It was first held in 1959 and is the event with the longest tradition and prestige. It has been about 13 years since a K-pop girl group received the Rookie of the Year award at the ‘Japan Record Award.’ Before I-LIT, Girls’ Generation and 2NE1 received the trophy at the ceremony.

It is unusual as well. I-LIT has not officially debuted in Japan yet. They promoted with their first mini album ‘Super Real Me’ in March and their second mini album ‘I Like You’ last month. The popularity of their Korean albums in Japan contributed to this achievement. The title track ‘Magnetic’ from their first mini album surpassed 100 million cumulative streams in the shortest period for a girl group’s single song.

I-LIT shared, “Our goal for this year was the Rookie of the Year award, and we are happy to have achieved that dream. We will continue to grow as I-LIT.” Meanwhile, I-LIT will appear on NHK’s ‘Kohaku Uta Gassen’ in Japan.
