President Lee Jae-myung Promises to Move Forward Towards a "Country Where the People Are the Masters" at the National Appointment Ceremony on Liberation Day

On Liberation Day, August 15, President Lee Jae-myung pledged a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to the people during the National Appointment Ceremony held at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

In a "Letter to the People," the President stated, "As a loyal worker of the sovereign people of the Republic of Korea, I will boldly move forward towards 'a country where the people are the masters, a country where the people are happy,' trusting only in the citizens."

The National Appointment Ceremony, held 72 days after his inauguration on June 4, served as a substitute for the official inauguration ceremony that was omitted due to the early election.

The event emphasized the value of "people's sovereignty," taking the form of representatives from the citizens presenting the appointment letters directly to the President.

President Lee expressed, "It is an immense honor and a great responsibility to receive the appointment letter that embodies the people's earnest wishes," and affirmed, "As a loyal worker of the sovereign people of the Republic of Korea, I will boldly move forward towards 'a country where the people are the masters, a country where the people are happy.'"

President Lee acknowledged the sacrifices and efforts of the citizens, saying, "Thanks to you, who have dedicated your youth to defend this land and have worked hard to modernize it through sweat, the Republic of Korea, now the 10th largest economy in the world, exists."

He continued, "Each time a national crisis arises, it has been you, who have driven away the darkness while holding onto the brightest things, that has allowed the democracy built through blood to breathe again," highlighting the role of the people in the democratization process.

Furthermore, he stated, "As proven by our great 80 years of contemporary history, the source of national power in the Republic of Korea has always been the people," and pledged, "I will always place the source of national power, the citizens, at the center of the philosophy and vision for administering the nation."

He reiterated, "As proven by our great 80 years of contemporary history, the source of national power in the Republic of Korea has always been the people."

The President emphasized, "The citizens' capability is the country's capability," stating, "Nurturing the potential and capacity of the people will be the driving force for national development. The nation's power will grow as the dreams of 52 million citizens are realized, and at the center of that bright future will be our great citizens, in a 'country where the people are the masters.'"

He promised the residents of the border areas and families of victims, "I will do everything in my power so that we can blossom into a peaceful and safe country."

To cultural figures and aspiring athletes, he vowed, "I will give wings to your dreams," and assured business leaders, "We will firmly support you so that you can competently compete on the global stage and allow scientists and technologists to focus solely on innovation."

Finally, President Lee declared, "It is an immense pride to be appointed as the President of the Republic of Korea, a country that the great people of Korea have rebuilt."
