Navy 1st Fleet to Hold Vessel Open House Event for Children's Day
The Navy 1st Fleet Command announced that it would hold an open house event at the fleet's military port in Songjeong-dong, Donghae City, Gangwon Province, on May 5 in celebration of Children's Day.
The event will start at 10 AM and is open to all citizens of the Republic of Korea. Notably, children can enter without identification.

During the event, the navy's major assets, including the destroyer Gwanggaeto the Great (DDH) and the frigate Gangwon (FFG), will be open to the public.
Additionally, various military equipment such as special operations gear, small tactical vehicles, and drones will be on display to attract the attention of visitors. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience wearing navy uniforms, providing them with a unique experience.
A wide range of programs for families will be available, including face painting and balloon art, as well as activities hosted by the Gangwon Eastern Veterans Affairs Office, which plans to offer a veterans quiz, puzzles, and dart throwing to add to the fun for participants.
One of the highlights of the event will be a performance by the Navy 1st Fleet Military Band. The band is set to deliver a splendid performance at 11 AM and again at 2:30 PM. Additionally, the Donghae Cultural Center will host a children’s song concert to provide musical enjoyment for children and their families.

Promotional booths for naval and marine corps recruitment will also be set up. Those interested in the navy or marine corps can visit the booths to gather information and receive souvenirs on-site.
A "National Defense Literary Contest" for children will also take place at one side of the event. This contest will be divided into two categories: drawing and poetry, separated by low and high grades. The theme will be "Navy 1st Fleet Protecting the East Sea," and participants must bring the necessary tools for their individual artistic activities.
Applications for the literary contest can be submitted in advance via email (1st_ft_pao@mnd.go.kr), and will also be accepted at the on-site operation booth until 3 PM on the day of the event.
Last entry will be allowed until 4 PM, and adults without identification as well as foreigners will be restricted from entry.
