Broadcaster Ahn Hyun-mo apologized for a controversial condolence message. On the 1st, Ahn Hyun-mo posted about the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster on SNS. She bowed her head, saying, "There was a lack of understanding in trying to express my sorrow."

She said, "I cannot suppress the grief," and added, "I sincerely offer my condolences to the bereaved families who must be suffering. I pray for the souls of the deceased."

This was an indirect apology for a prior condolence message that caused misunderstanding. On December 30th last year, Ahn Hyun-mo wrote a personal reflection with an airport photo.

At that time, she wrote, "Everything that takes off and lands was a matter of luck. Everything was something to be thankful for. The more I think about it, the more deeply every inhale and exhale can be sorrowful."

Criticism poured out online. Many pointed out that mentioning "luck" in the context of a major accident with numerous casualties was secondary harm to the bereaved families.

As the controversy arose, Ahn Hyun-mo deleted the problematic post. Even after deleting the post, critical comments continued to appear on her SNS, prompting her to disable comments on the latest posts.

Meanwhile, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters announced on the 1st that they had identified all 179 deceased victims of the passenger plane accident. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
