HYBE strengthens its global position by signing an exclusive contract with the world’s largest music company, Universal Music Group (UMG).

On March 27, HYBE announced, “We have signed a global exclusive distribution agreement with Universal Music Group for physical albums and digital music releases.”

For the next ten years, Universal Music Group will exclusively distribute music releases from HYBE labels in the global market, supporting artists’ North American promotions and marketing efforts.

Universal Music Group recognized the presence of K-pop in the global music market, especially HYBE’s multi-label strategy’s effectiveness. Through the partnership with HYBE, it plans to strengthen its music portfolio.

HYBE accelerates its global business expansion, utilizing Universal Music Group’s global infrastructure for its existing labels and potentially new labels.

The two companies have previously collaborated, launching the joint label “HYBE x Geffen Records” in 2021 and conducting the audition program “The Debut: Dream Academy,” debuting the final six members as ‘Catseye’ this year.

They also aim for synergy in platform areas, discussing the incorporation of Universal Music Group artists into the Weverse platform.

HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk stated, “Through our partnership with Universal Music Group, the most iconic company in the music industry, we have secured infinite growth potential.”

He added, “This partnership is based on mutual dedication, and we are confident it will have a positive impact on artists, fans, and the overall music industry ecosystem.”

Lucian Grainge, Chairman of Universal Music Group, expressed, “We are pleased to collaborate with HYBE, which has presented innovation and a progressive vision,” and “We look forward to exploring mutual growth with HYBE’s superfans platform Weverse.”
