Hwang Kyo-ahn: “Na Kyung-won is not someone who will fall; the People’s Power primary is a ‘fraud election.’”

"1st Primary Election Results are Voting, Not Polls… Refusing to Announce is Like Playing Blind Man's Bluff"

Former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, who previously served as the leader of the Liberty Korea Party, has raised suspicions of manipulation regarding the first primary election of the People Power Party.

On the 23rd, Hwang posted on his Facebook with the title "Election Fraud: The Invisible Hand Manipulating the People Power Party's Primary", claiming that former lawmaker Na Kyung-won’s elimination was "not a normal outcome."

He stated, "Looking at the list of candidates who advanced from the first preliminary election released by the People Power Party on the 22nd, I thought, 'As expected.' The People Power Party announced that it would not disclose the results of this primary election, citing the prohibition of announcing poll results under election law. However, what decided the outcome is not the polls but the 'actual voting results.' This is just a 'playing blind man's bluff' kind of behavior," he criticized.

He continued, "Even though I repeatedly warned against 'vote manipulation' in this primary, it seems manipulation has indeed occurred. I know them well. Na Kyung-won is someone who should never have lost."

"Angry Public Sentiment is Boiling… Parliamentary System Forces Trying to Satisfy Their Ambitions Through Fraudulent Elections"

Hwang noted that suspicions about the list of candidates who passed the first primary are spreading on social media as "manipulated results," adding, "Public sentiment is boiling." He remarked, "This trend appears to be a preparation by forces favoring a parliamentary system to fulfill their power ambitions."

He also strongly opposed the proposal for a parliamentary system constitutional amendment. "The forces favoring a parliamentary system have the intention of creating a hereditary kingdom through fraudulent elections under the manipulation of China," he claimed, adding, "But is the constitutional amendment really the will of the people? It’s just their league for dividing power among themselves."

Additionally, he pointed out, "A parliamentary system centered on the legislature is based on a multi-party division, but in a hostile two-party system like Korea’s, it could rather lead to extreme chaos in governance." He particularly asked, "Isn't it true that everyone has felt the power paralysis situation caused by the National Assembly grasping power since the impeachment politics started last December?"

"Fraudulent Election Forces Must Be Rooted Out"

Hwang stated, "Amendment must be carried out not by the privileged few but according to the will of the people," criticizing, "It is absurd for those who have stolen the people's sovereignty through fraudulent elections to dare to discuss constitutional amendments."

In conclusion, he emphasized, "The forces of fraudulent elections must be decidedly rooted out," as he wrapped up his statement. The People Power Party has not provided any particular stance regarding these claims, but discussions about the transparency of the primary election process and results are expected to continue for the time being.
