Man Arrested for Shooting Incident in Songdo Claims He Learned Gun Manufacturing from YouTube… Explosives Also Equipped with Timers
A 60-year-old man who killed his 30-something son with a homemade gun in Songdo, Incheon, has stated in police testimony that he learned how to make firearms from YouTube.
According to police on the 21st, A (63), who was urgently arrested on charges of murder and violations of laws related to firearms, swords, and explosives, allegedly stated during police questioning that he learned the method of gun manufacturing through YouTube videos.

Regarding how he obtained the bullets, he reportedly claimed, "I bought them from another individual a while back." It appears that he asserted family conflict as a motive for the crime.
Crime Committed During Family Gathering… Used 'Shotgun' with Steel Balls
A is suspected of shooting and killing his son B (in his 30s) at 9:31 PM the previous day in his apartment on the 33rd floor located in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. At the time, B's family had gathered to celebrate A's birthday, with six family members, including his wife and children, present.
The police apprehended A, who fled immediately after the crime, after three hours in downtown Seoul and transported him back to Incheon.
Investigation revealed that A had loaded two rounds of 'shotgun' with steel balls into a makeshift firearm fashioned from a steel pipe and fired them in succession.

Explosives Installed Throughout the House… Timers Activated
Upon searching A's residence in Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul, police discovered 15 explosive devices made from bottles containing thinner, detergent containers, and milk cartons. These explosives were connected to ignition devices, with some set to explode at noon on the 21st.
Additionally, besides the firearm used in the crime, further investigations found 11 barrels and multiple rounds of ammunition in the passenger seat and trunk of A's vehicle. Also seized from the residence were 5 to 6 metal pipes.
A police official stated, "Considering the firearm's appearance, it does not seem to be a commercially available product, and we are continuing to trace its manufacturing and acquisition."
Profiler Deployed… Analyzing Mental State and Planning of the Crime

The police have decided to deploy a profiler to determine whether A's crime was premeditated and to understand the specifics of the conflict with his son. The police agency revealed that the profilers assigned to the case would comprehensively analyze A's mental state, the background of the conflict, the process of gun manufacturing, and the preparations for the crime.
The police also stated that based on the results of the detailed analysis, they would review the specific charges to be applied and explore measures to prevent the recurrence of similar crimes in the future.
